Dr. Doris D. Restrepo on Autism and Diversity:

When most people think of diversity, they think of race, gender, or ethnicity. However, diversity is so much more than that. It's about inclusion and understanding. It's about celebrating our differences and learning from one another. Dr. Doris D. Restrepo is a doctorate in diversity, and she has a lot to say on the topic of autism.

What is Autism?
Autism is a neurological disorder that affects the way a person communicates and interact with others. Autism is not a disease, but it is considered a condition. The cause of autism is unknown, but it is believed to be caused by a combination of genetic and environmental factors. There are many different types of autism, and the symptoms can range from mild to severe.

The social view of autism has changed over the years. In the past, autism was seen as a mental illness or a result of bad parenting. However, we now know that autism is not something that can be cured or fixed. Autism is simply a different way of seeing the world. And that's okay! In fact, many people with autism are able to lead happy and successful lives.

What is Diversity?
Diversity is about inclusion and understanding. It's about celebrating our differences and learning from one another. Diversity includes race, gender, ethnicity, disability, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, religion, age, national origin, and more. Diversity is what makes us unique and special.

When it comes to diversity and inclusion, we need to remember that everyone deserves to be respected and valued for who they are. We all have something special to offer the world, and we should strive to create an inclusive environment where everyone can feel comfortable being themselves. By understanding and accepting our differences, we can learn from one another and make the world a better place for all.
