Doris Restrepo Biography
I was born in Manizales, a beautiful city located in the western center of Colombia, on the Central Cordillera of the Andes.
I studied education in depth in the area of biology and chemistry, which allowed me to practice professionally as a teacher in this field for 15 years. I immigrated to the United States in 2002. In this country I have worked as an autism teacher for more than 15 years. I was brought up in an educational scheme in which life and study are usually seen as two isolated things. However, as the years went by, my interest in the study of autism continued to rise, which led me to do a specialization in Autism in the first instance, and a few years later to achieve a Master in Education, with an emphasis in Autism, from the University of Central Florida, from which I obtained the adequate knowledge to link it to my own experience. Years later the University of Central Florida UCF awarded me a master's degree in education with an emphasis on autism. I am currently a PhD candidate in Diversity. My doctoral thesis is directly related to my experience working with children with autism. |
