Empowering Autistic Children: The Foundation's Journey
Since its inception in 2012, the Global Family Support Foundation, through its innovative Autistic Creative Mind Program and the Pure Souls Foundation, has embarked on a transformative journey to enhance the lives of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Spearheading these efforts is Patrick Speech and Language Centers (PSLC), a beacon of hope and progress in the autism community, which has been operational since 2006 under the visionary leadership of Patrick’s.
Patrick’s Contribution to Autism Awareness and Support
Patrick’s has been a pivotal figure in increasing awareness about Autism Spectrum Disorder in Nigeria, making significant strides in support and development for children and adolescents with autism. Over the years, Patrick Speech and Language Centers have served more than 500 children and adolescents living with Autism, providing a nurturing environment for growth, learning, and acceptance. Remarkably, some of the individuals who benefited from the center's services have returned as staff members, contributing to the community that once supported their development.
The center’s commitment to reaching underserved populations is evident through its extensive outreach programs. Conducting more than 8 quarterly outreaches/consultations, PSLC has assessed over 1000 indigent families, offering crucial support and resources to those most in need.

Gazelle Studio: A Step Towards Independence
An evolution of Patrick Speech’s continuum of care, the Gazelle Studio, stands as a skill acquisition center dedicated to adolescents living with special needs. This initiative emphasizes vocational training and personal development, preparing participants for meaningful engagement in society and the workforce.
Celebrating Autism through Talents In Autism
From 2008 to 2018, PSLC hosted the annual program "Talents In Autism," a platform for individuals with autism to showcase their abilities through stage performances. This decade-long initiative not only highlighted the diverse talents within the autism community but also worked to dispel stereotypes and foster a culture of inclusion and appreciation.
Support from the Community
The success of Patrick Speech and Language Centers has been significantly bolstered by the generosity of corporate organizations, whose donations and grants have made it possible to offer services at subsidized rates and provide scholarships to over 100 indigent children. This collaborative effort underscores the importance of community support in sustaining initiatives that make a real difference in the lives of those with autism.
Training and Development through Pure Souls Learning Foundation
Complementing the hands-on support initiatives, the Pure Souls Learning Foundation has organized more than 80 training sessions for an audience that includes parents, siblings, teachers, therapists, and caregivers of children with developmental challenges. These training sessions cover a wide range of topics, from understanding autism, communication, and inclusion strategies to behavioral management, nutritional support, and vocational skills development. This comprehensive approach ensures that the ecosystem surrounding children with autism is equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to support their growth and integration into society.
Looking Forward
The efforts of the Global Family Support Foundation and Patrick Speech and Language Centers reflect a commitment to not only improving the lives of children with autism but also to building a society that values diversity, inclusion, and the potential within every individual. As they continue to innovate and expand their reach, the impact of their work promises to shape a brighter future for autistic children in Nigeria and beyond, fostering environments where they can thrive, contribute, and lead fulfilling lives.
